Mountain Dialogues (2010)

Mountain Dialogues is the outcome of research project, Notions of Journeying. With 3 dancers and original sound composed and performed live by Tom Spencer, the piece is about journeying.

The western world has become increasingly concerned with time efficiency, we are goal orientated and we want to arrive, almost before we have even departed. But what about the process of being in transit? In her desire to find ways to represent journeys and the passing of time visually, Charlotte developed a series of drawings, ‘Journey Maps’ that embody the process of a journey. These drawings are the food for the dance that unfolds. As the dancers fall between richly dense movement material and casual yet particular walking patterns we are left with the imprint or traces that these pathways leave in space. By the end of the piece have we arrived or departed or found that we are forever in the journey of the present?
